Per NCR: The ATM printer detects one- or two-sided paper by trying to print to both sides as the paper is loaded into the machine. Only the side (or sides) with thermal coating will print. There is a sensor that determines that the print was successful on each side. If successfully printed, the 2ST (Two-Sided Tape) logo will print on the first receipt as the paper is loaded – otherwise it prints the 2ST logo with a line through it, indicating not two sided printing.
